Saturday 25th October 2008
Weather: Very, very wet. 12oC
at 5.30 pm.
Bowness Bay
There was widespread heavy rain
throughout Cumbria today and many parts including Bowness were suffering
high water levels. There was similar weather on Thursday when the shop
lost power for an hour and on Thursday night the A592 to Newby Bridge
was closed due to flooding (as it was on Friday morning too). Déjà vu
then today as the weather was if anything, worse, and the main road was
again shut tonight which made for an 'interesting' journey home along
the Lyth Valley road!

Down at the pier in Bowness things were
looking a little wet with the ticket booths under water.

The water flowing from the road into
Windermere.

No sailings today.

Brave! That is the tourist information centre
on the other side of the extended lake.

The water flowing over the seats at the
lakeshore.

Even the main road is flooded and the water
is above the jetty where you have to 'Q'.

This bin full of brollies sums up the weather
today.

Where are the jetties? This lone swan is
looking for them.
See the aftermath
the next day...
