Daze! - June 2006
(formerly known as The Angus Diaries - now it's double
trouble!)
We're heading for high summer and all is
green in Lakeland and on some walks it is a struggle to find anything to
drink or somewhere to cool off. These two can find something though, and
it's usually muddy and smelly.
Casper passed his training class with
flying colours and is already becoming used to the length of the walks
and the varied terrain. Angus completed his round of the Wainwright 214
fells - an excellent achievement.
I hope you enjoy this month's selection from
'Dog Daze!', the out takes from the fellwalking Beardie duo.

A bit of a jumble with this Fleetwith Pike photo!

Infra-Red Casper.

Resting at every opportunity, it was so hot on High Crag.

Starting the descent from Red Pike, Casper gets that
sliding feeling.

Angus, The Lion King, on Nab Scar looking over Rydal
Water.
When you have a mud bath (as these two did on Nab Scar), what you need to do then is...

...roll in the grass...
...then have a s-t-r-e-t-c-h...

...and another roll... ...then
see if anyone is looking!

At the end of the walk, you end up with baked on mud that
is almost impossible to shift.
-----
Dad took us to the River Duddon one day - a walk
that never made it onto the website!

Weir on Tarn Beck.

It was a bit damp, but we like it here.

Fickle Steps (Fiddle Steps to locals!) are stepping stones that cross the River
Duddon with a wire to hold on to.....Angus and Dad crossed on the
stones, but I thought I would go the hard way, just to prove I do get
into the water sometimes!
-----

An alternative view of the sentinels on Strands Beck
bridge.

Casper may have the longest legs and tongue in the Beardie world, but Angus shows
he is not lacking in the tongue department either!
-----

A family portrait now that we are clean again.

A leap of faith into Stickle Tarn.

Just what is Angus up to over there? On Stickle Pike
overlooking Great Stickle.
-----

Having a bath on Wansfell - pass then loofah!

Ambleside turns into Toytown!
-----

Hmm, a bone for completing the 214 Wainwrights. Think
I'll save it for later...

...or perhaps not!

That didn't last long!
