 AngusDog Daze! - May 2007Casper

The boys were newly shorn for May and I think they were glad of it at times, certainly at the beginning of the month when we prematurely thought summer had come! It wasn't long before a prolonged wet spell ruined a lot of our walking plans mid month and Angus and Casper were perhaps wishing they had hung on to their winter coats for just a little longer. Of course during May they became a little more famous with an appearance in the esteemed Lake District Life magazine. That proved to be so popular that there will be a regular spot for them in there. Enjoy the May collection of out-takes from Dog Daze! - the Angus and Casper diaries.

Time for a rest after a stifling hot and steep climb to Whin Ben, heading for Whiteside.

Casper peering into Hobcarton below Grisedale Pike from Hopegill Head.

Enjoying the sunshine on Walla Crag, the familiar shape of Skiddaw behind.

Two shots of Angus, the handsome devil, on Loughrigg Fell.

'Angus got to stay at home whilst I am out in the rain - again - on Heughscar Hill!'

'If I just lie here very still and only move my eyes, no-one will notice that I am all muddy'.

Walking on water in Burnmoor Tarn.

A: 'Come on dad, enough is enough'. C: 'Yes, I want to go over there now.'

'Come on, it's raining you know'.

Casper is completely taken aback by the magnificent scenery here on Great Moss in the shadow of Scafell Pike.

'Come on, what's the hold up? I have already been to the summit of Caw and back down!'

'If I...just sneak up...he'll never notice me...'

'...BOO!'

'Hmm, interesting. I can practice my sheep rounding-up skills here.'

'That's it, come on you lot. Form an orderly queue.'

(Note: Don't worry, Casper is not worrying the sheep at all, in fact the shepherd is up on the hill to the left. It does show how good Casper is with sheep though; one word after the second photo and he was immediately back to heel. Remember, Beardies were originally bred to be sheep dogs up on the fells and there are still a few working Beardies in the Lake District even now. Casper still adopts the characteristic attitude of a sheepdog and I think he would love nothing more than to round this little lot up!).

Having a gasp on Lingmoor Fell.

Casper unfurls his tongue to see whether it will reach all the way to Great Langdale below.

Alert on Side Pike, Bow Fell behind.

You may recall this famous view and idyllic place. This photo shows that it is not necessarily so idyllic when we are there, these two doing their best to spoil the peace and tranquillity!
