Dog
Daze! - April 2008
The on, off weather continued and the hirsute became the
hairless in anticipation of hot weather that has yet to arrive. I'm sure
those two look at me with that 'why did you' look when their knees are
knocking and their teeth are chattering in our supposed late
spring/early summer weather. I hope you enjoy this months baldy beardie
offering known as the Dog Daze!

Angus pretending to be a crocodile. At the beginning of
the month we had a walk up to High Dam that never appeared on the site.
Most of it was spent trying to get Angus out of the water as he swam
round and round having endless fun. All manner of coaxing failed, he
just came out when he'd had enough!

Hurray, the monster from the deep eventually emerges!

Meanwhile, Casper the woolly mammoth looks on afraid to
dip his toes in the cold water and not wanting to mess his hairdo up.

Casper gets snowed under on Middle Fell...

...and gives a pretty good viper impression on Blawith
Knott.

Casper and Angus in the nameless tarn we have christened
Angus Tarn. Looks like Angus is making a vocal statement about the news.

Yep, it's all mine.

Hair today, gone tomorrow. It's not summer yet you know
say the shivering twosome.

'I can see'.

Angus has a rest on the top of Caw - not a bad climb for
an old lad.

'Okay, okay - I'll just have a little paddle in this
small pool...'

'...yikes, that was deeper than I thought!'

'G-g-g-get me out of here'.

'What on earth are you doing? Are you coming or just
messing about?'. Casper comes to see why I haven't followed him over the
stile on the way to Sergeant's Crag.

Anyone who has been on Eagle Crag will recognise this
awkward step on the way to the summit. Casper shows how it should be
tackled.

Casper has a crazy minute up on Langhowe Pike. Sniff,
sniff, sniff...

...then light blue touch paper and he's away.

A mad minute indeed!

Aagghh!

Be careful lad, you'll curl right round if you're not
careful.

'Mmmm, something smells lovely...'

'Just...have...a...little...taste'. Casper!! What is
that?! (Hint: have a look to the right of his nose and you will see -
ugh!).

'That was delish!' Hmm, well just don't think about
giving me a kiss!

Casper says: 'I fully endorse this Doggie Soap that dad
uses to wash me and Angus. Hand made with 100% natural ingredients, this
moisturising bar (no bottle to knock over) contains Neem and Citronella
Oils to repel insects, Tea Tree Oil to heal, Rosemary Oil to condition
skin and coat and Lavender Oil to relax. It leaves me clean, fresh and
natural smelling and best of all it is manufactured right here in the
Lake District...available from Love the Lakes store in Bowness on
Windermere.
