Daze! - July 2009
The weather at the beginning of the month was good,
really sunny and warm but after we returned from a week away, everything
had changed and the weather was damp and pretty miserable. Casper had an
enforced holiday - although I am sure he loved it really - but he was
chomping at the bit to get out on the fells after our return. The
momentous occasion of Casper completing his 214 Wainwright fells arrived
at the end of the month too and fittingly for the most famous tongue in
the Lake District, it was on The Tongue! Now you know the ropes Casper,
you can show Dougal...

'I closed my eyes, drew back the curtain
To see for certain what I thought I knew
Far far away, someone was weeping
But the world was sleeping
Any stream will do...'

'That flippin' Dougal isn't sneaking up on me again is
he?'

'Pass me the loofah'.

Heaven indeed.

'No, I am not coming out'.

'Ha ha, you need a haircut like mine Connie!'.

A game of 'who has the longest tongue' - no effort at all
from the humans, not a bad effort from the two Goldies but the Beardie
wins it by a country mile.

'See, my tongue's still longer and I am much muddier
too.'

The Lion King roars! Photo by Roger and Ann Hiley.

'All the better for sniffing you with'.

Casper - ugh!

Chomp!
Dougal Update
Our house has been turned upside down with the arrival of
Dougal and I don't think Casper is too enamoured at the moment - he just
ignores him and pretends he doesn't exist. I am sure all this will
change once they manage to get out for some walks together though.
Dougal is full of energy and there is never a dull moment, although the
5am wake up calls aren't exactly the most amusing part of the day! On
the 1st August (at 12 weeks old) Dougal had his final injections and
there is only another week before he can be unleashed into the big wide
world.

Meet Bertie, Dougal's dad with Sylvia. I'm not sure that
Dougal's coat will ever be that clean/long/tidy!
Photos taken 2nd August...

'See Uncle Casper, I am nearly as tall as you now'.

A tickle under the chin and the Beardie button nose

He's a (not so) little (now) cutie.

Hmm, I think that flower is living on borrowed time.

Connie attempts to show how big Dougal is getting -
obviously a wriggle bum like him won't keep still and I don't think he
will be sitting on many knees for much longer!

Dougal climbs his first Lake District summit - Pike o'
Patio Table Top.

...and the mountain lion skills he will undoubtedly use
in the future.
