Route Map
It was a day of contrasts today -
yesterday I was at the northernmost reach of the Lake District National
Park in wind and rain, today I was just beyond the southern boundary in
hot sunshine. Lowick High Common is more commonly called Kirkby Moor and
the summit is classed as a 'Marilyn'. There are lots of windmills on top
of Kirkby Moor and there is still a working slate quarry. It was a shame
about the haziness though as it spoilt the views a little.

Coniston Water from the climb to Kirkby
Moor.

A hazy view of the Coniston fells - Dow
Crag, The Old Man and Wetherlam.

Great Burney.

Angus in the heather.

Casper.

Black Combe across the Duddon Estuary.

The summit of Kirkby Moor.

Plenty of windmills up here.

The Leven Estuary with
The Hoad in silhouette against the
bright sunshine.
