Loweswater Fells

What a fantastic summer’s day for a walk over the Loweswater fells – the sun was shining, the birds were singing (the dogs were barking!) – I really enjoyed this one.

What a beautiful day today, a welcome change after a couple of blustery ones. It really did feel like spring walking along the tops with the Meadow Pipits in full voice and the warm sun on my back.

There was only the occasional glimpse of sun over Loweswater this morning and the wind on the fell tops was icy – a portent of things to come I think. My boots are falling apart again; regular readers will remember it was only 5 months ago that this happened previously and that pair only lasted 7 months. It’s back to the manufacturers as the shop warranty is just out, being 12 months from the initial purchase date. It will be interesting to see what happens next…

There was sunshine around the periphery of the Lakes today, but all the fells seemed to be under cloud. I had a walk in the far north-west, above Loweswater which gave some fine views for some quite lowly tops. Not all is friendly for walkers in this area though, as you will see…
